CBE auctions EGP 41bn debt instruments on Monday

Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) offered treasury bills (T-bills) at an aggregated value of EGP 40 billion through two auctions on Monday, 8 May, according to official data.

The first issue was valued at EGP 23 billion and will mature in 91 days on 8 August 2023.

Holding a tenor of 273 days until 6 February 2024, the second tranche stood at EGP 17 billion.

The CBE also auctioned floating-rate treasury bonds (T-bonds) worth EGP 1 billion through one issue, which carries a three-year maturity period until 9 May 2026.

Earlier this week, the central bank issued T-bills at a combined value of EGP 39.50 billion through two offerings.
