CBE offers EGP 46bn debt instruments on Sunday

Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) has auctioned treasury bills (T-bills) and fixed coupon treasury bonds (T-bonds) at a combined value of EGP 46 billion on Sunday, 24 September.

The financial entity issued T-bills amounting to EGP 42.50 billion through two offerings, according to official data.

The first T-bills issuance totalled EGP 18.50 billion, with a 182-day maturity period until 26 March 2024. Meanwhile, the second auction stood at EGP 24 billion and is holding a tenor of 364 days until 24 September 2024.

As for the fixed coupon T-bonds, the CBE auctioned notes worth EGP 3.50 billion, which holds a three-year tenor until 11 July 2026. The debt instruments have annual coupon at a rate of 23%.

Last week, the CBE offered T-bills at an aggregated value of EGP 40 billion through two auctions, in addition to T-bonds worth EGP 250 million and floating-rate notes of EGP 750 million.
