Cairo - Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) as well as the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) will suspend their business next Thursday, 5 October 2023, to celebrate the victory of the 6 October 1973 War.
Operations at the stock exchange and the lenders will resume on Sunday, 8 October, according to an official statement.
Egypt’s Cabinet announced next Thursday as a paid holiday for the public and private sectors.
Although the victory's anniversary falls this year on Friday, the government made 5 October a paid day off holiday, instead.
This aligns with the Arab Republic’s decision to make Thursday an alternative day off for official holidays that fall midweek in order to give employees a longer weekend.
It is worth highlighting that 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of Egypt's victory against Israel.
