CBE unveils EGP 46.75bn debt instruments on Sunday

Cairo - Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) offered treasury bills (T-bills) at a total value of EGP 46.50 billion through two auctions on 8 October 2023.

With a tenor of 182 days until 9 April 2024, the first tranche was valued at EGP 20 billion, according to official data.

The second offering stood at EGP 26.50 billion, holding a 364-day maturity period until 8 October next year.

Additionally, the CBE issued treasury bonds (T-bonds) worth EGP 250 million through one tranche. The semi-annual coupon will mature in five years on 13 October 2027.

The central bank resumed its operations on Sunday following the 6 October holiday that was announced last week.

On 2 October, the financial authority announced T-bills and T-bonds at an aggregated value of EGP 50 billion over three issues.
