Cairo – Mubasher: Transcargo International (TCI), a partly-owned subsidiary by AD Ports Group, teamed up with Sinai White Portland Cement (SWCC) to build Egypt’s first bulk cement silos in Arish Port, according to a press release.

Under the agreement, TCI will develop and operate white cement silos terminal with an annual capacity exceeding 200,000 tonnes for SWCC. This will facilitate the export of the company's products to various export markets.

The silos terminal will also anchor SWCC’s position by providing extra logistics capability to fulfill market needs across all Mediterranean regions and worldwide.

The Arish Port bulk terminal project includes six cement silos with a total storage capacity of 60,000 tonnes, with each one producing  10,000 tonnes.

Two silos are for white Portland cement, and four are for grey Portland cement. The project aims to streamline cement exports, lower costs, and boost competitiveness for Egyptian cement exports.

Mohamed El Ahwal, CEO of TCI, commented: "Building and operating Egypt’s first bulk cement terminal, we anticipate cost savings for cement producers in Egypt, making prices more competitive globally and increasing global market penetration.”

Alberto Barbieri, Managing Director of SWCC, highlighted that the partnership aligns with the company’s objectives to expand its footprint in export markets globally, which will achieve growth in export volumes over the next five years.

Barbieri added that the project came within the framework of Cementir Holding’s 2030 sustainability road map and the Egyptian government development plan for Sinai.

In September 2022, the ADX-listed group acquired a 70% shareholding in TCI and Transmar International Shipping Company at an enterprise value of AED 514 million ($140 million).
