TAWAL unveils new technology for private 5G network at LEAP 2024

Riyadh – Mubasher: TAWAL, an information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure subsidiary of Saudi Telecom Company (stc), has announced a new technical system for private 5G networks at LEAP 2024.

TAWAL joined forces with MOBiSENSE to develop the new Technology at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), according to a press release.

The enhanced system is compatible with Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) standards and provides native support for AI to meet the increasing needs of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) and cognitive cities.

Mohammed Alhakbani, CEO of TAWAL, said: “In keeping with our agreement and our joint efforts to achieve the objectives of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the system will accelerate the digital transformation of Saudi business and society.

“It will play a key role in helping us and future generations to resolve pressing and persistent challenges,” Alhakbani mentioned.

Tony Chan, President of KAUST, commented: “Creating an environment in which effective partnership-working between academic institutions and technology companies is encouraged is vital to transforming the Kingdom into a leading hub of innovation.”

“Together, they [TAWAL and MOBiSENSE ] will create even more opportunities to localize advanced technologies in the Kingdom,” Chan added.

Arabian Internet and Telecommunication Services Company (solutions), a subsidiary of stc, penned a deal with US-based nile on the slides of LEAP24. The global tech event LEAP took place in Riyadh during 4-7 March, with over 1,100 expert speakers.

In August 2023, TAWAL launched its operations in Europe after obtaining all the necessary regulatory approvals.
