UAE – Mubasher: The UAE has been named the global leader in fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) penetration for the eighth consecutive year.

The country has achieved an FTTH penetration rate of 99.30%, according to a report by the FTTH Council.

The report examined data from 20 countries with over 50% FTTH availability, comparing global fibre optic network penetration.

It ranked the UAE above Singapore, Hong Kong, China, and South Korea, solidifying its position as a leader in high-speed fibre connectivity.

This underscores the UAE's commitment to prioritising next-generation digital infrastructure.

FTTH, also known as Fibre to the Premises (FTTP), is an advanced broadband internet connection technology. It utilises optical fibre to provide high-speed internet directly to individual buildings, including households, apartment complexes, and businesses.

Masood Sharif Mahmood, CEO of leading Emirati telecom company e&, said: “The UAE's proactive strategies and investments in fibre connectivity are a testament to both the nation’s visionary leadership and its confidence to empower people to thrive in the digital age.”

“This commitment has established the country as the benchmark for how nations can enable communities through world-class digital infrastructure,” Mahmood added.

In April 2024, a report by DHL ranked the UAE eighth among the top 10 most globalised countries in the world.
