UAE – Mubasher: The total value of the UAE’s e-commerce market is expected to surge to AED 48.80 billion by 2028 from AED 27.50 billion in 2023, according to a report by Dubai South’s e-commerce zone (EZDubai).
The report ascribed the positive outlook on the market’s growth to the adoption of e-commerce solutions by tech-savvy young people, strong government support, and increasing investment in digital infrastructure.
The leading sectors in the Emirati e-commerce industry in 2023 were clothing and footwear, consumer electronics, and media products, the report said.
EZDubai’s data showed that Emirati consumers prefer mobile shopping and cost savings, using mostly credit and debit cards for online purchases.
As for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), the report revealed that the region’s e-commerce market grew by 11.80% annually to AED 106.50 billion in 2023.
MENA’s e-commerce market is set to reach a value of AED 183.60 billion by 2028, the report expected.
