Cairo – Mubasher: Japanese manufacturer SARAYA Middle East has inaugurated a factory at the Orascom Industrial Park in the Sokhna Industrial Zone.

The SARAYA Middle East factory boasts four production lines manufacturing sterilisation products, natural cosmetics, zero-calorie sugar (Lakanto), and jojoba oil for export to European and Asian cosmetic companies, according to a press release.

The factory is located on 20,000 square meters with $12 million in investments.

Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), highlighted the robust cooperation between the economic zone and Japanese enterprises, including the roll-off dock project in East Port Said with the Japanese-French alliance (Toyota Tsusho-NYK).

He also reflected on the successful promotional tour in Tokyo last year, where the SCZONE's delegation met over 100 Japanese companies interested in investing in the economic zone.

Oka Hiroshi, Japanese Ambassador to Cairo, emphasised that the factory exemplifies the strategic partnership between Egypt and Japan.

He reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to supporting and developing this partnership, highlighting cooperation with the Suez Canal Economic Zone through the Japanese JICA organisation to bolster Japanese investments in the area.

Yusuke Saraya, representing the Saraya company, detailed their investment journey in Egypt since 2018, focusing on leveraging Japanese technology in sterilisation, public health, and beauty sectors.

He revealed that the company's first factory complex in the SCZONE, occupying 8,000 square meters initially, aims to serve as an export base to the Middle East and Africa.

The second phase will expand production to include sterile latex gloves, liquid chocolate, and diet chocolate over an additional 12,000 square meters.
