CBE offers T-bills, T-bonds on Monday

Cairo - Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) issued treasury bills (T-bills) at an aggregated value of EGP 55 billion through two auctions on Monday, 16 September 2024.

The first tranche was valued at EGP 35 billion and will mature in 91 days on 17 December this year, according to official data.

Holding a maturity period of 273 days until 17 June 2025, the second offering stood at EGP 25 billion.

Furthermore, the financial authority unveiled fixed treasury bonds (T-bonds) through one issue worth EGP 1 billion. The tranche carries a two-year tenor until 17 September 2026.

The CBE also unveiled floating-rate T-bonds at a value of EGP 250 million through one auction, which will mature in five years on 6 August 2029.

Last week, on 12 September, the central bank announced T-bills at a combined value of EGP 65 billion through two tranches.

The banks operating in Egypt resumed operations today after halting their operations on Sunday, 15 September, in celebration of Mawlid El-Nabawi.
