Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Aramco) has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Quantinuum to explore industrial applications of quantum computing and assess potential research collaboration in fault-tolerant quantum computing.
Both sides will conduct preliminary technical onboarding and knowledge-sharing activities, while identifying challenges within Aramco’s operations that could benefit from quantum computing research, according to a press release.
The partnership intends to assess how future generations of quantum computing systems may tackle scientific and industrial challenges and benchmark different quantum computing modalities.
The MoU supports Aramco’s efforts to strengthen its position in the application of advanced quantum technologies within the energy industry.
Rajeeb Hazra, President and CEO of Quantinuum, said: "This MoU creates a framework for Quantinuum and Aramco to exchange expertise, identify important industrial challenges and prepare for a deeper research collaboration.”
Hazra added: “By combining Aramco's scientific and engineering knowledge with Quantinuum's integrated hardware and software capabilities, we aim to build a strong foundation for research across future generations of quantum computing."
Aramco rolled out several MoUs and agreements with leading tech firms at the LEAP 2026 conference, focusing on cybersecurity, industrial AI and innovation, localizing critical technologies, and building national industrial capabilities.
