North Korea still silent on Kim Jong Un-Trump meeting

North Korea still silent on Kim Jong Un-Trump meeting

Mubasher: The North Korean government has not yet responded to US President Donald Trump’s invitation to meet with the country’s leader Kim Jong Un by the end of May.

On Friday, Trump surprisingly accepted an invitation from North Korea to meet Jong Un to “achieve permanent denuclearisation”.

South Korean officials, who had previously announced that the North Korean leader would stop nuclear and missile testing during the talks, said they did not receive any official response from Pyongyang until now.

This silence reflects North Korea’s worries and caution over its next move, especially after the two sides have been exchanging criticism and military threats.

This meeting will mark the first face-to-face meeting between a US President and a North Korean leader.
