Holding Co for Tourism to annul deal with Orascom Investment

Cairo – Mubasher: Misr Company for Sound and Light, a subsidiary of Holding Co. for Tourism, Hotels, and Cinema, is planning to cancel a $10 billion deal for operating and developing the sound and light shows at the pyramids of Giza with a consortium comprised of Orascom Investment Holding and France’s PRISM Entertainment.

The decision comes as the Egyptian-French consortium has not been obliged to the contract’s items, Almal News reported, citing the chairman of Holding Co. for Tourism Mervat Hataba.

Another two sources attributed the deal’s cancellation to a conflict between the companies on the project.

Misr Company plans to offer the project again in a bid after annulling the contract with the consortium, according to chairman Sameh Saad.

Orascom Investment signed a licensing contract with the Supreme Council of Antiquities last Thursday to operate and provide services at the visiting area of the pyramids of Giza.
