UK parliament to vote on Brexit on 29 January

Mubasher: UK lawmakers are set to discuss and vote on Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit “plan B” on 29 January, the head of the House of Commons Andrea Leadsom said.

Premier May would put forward a motion and make statement on her next steps on Monday, Leadsom told parliament.

“A full day's debate on the motion will take place on Tuesday 29 January, subject to the agreement of the house,” Leadsom said.

May’s initial divorce agreement was rejected roundly by the parliament on Tuesday, by a margin of 230 votes, triggering a no-confidence motion, which required members of the House of Commons to decide whether it backs May’s government.

The prime minister won the no-confidence vote, won 325 to 306, with the support of her Conservative Party and Northern Ireland’s Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) in the final count.
