Mubasher: Bitcoin surged earlier on Monday to its highest peak since September 2018, having broken through $7,000 level for a little while, as rally digital currencies garnered momentum in over-the-weekend trading, Bloomberg reported.

As of 9:01 am Tokyo time (12:01 am GMT), Bitcoin climbed by 11% from Friday to $6,957.73, after touching hitting $7,585 earlier.

The biggest digital currency went bullish after hovering near $5,000 at the beginning of May, growing by more than double since mid-December 2018.

The prospects of digital currencies remained a contentious controversy amid regulatory heat and news of crypto heists.

Last week, Binance, one of the world’s biggest crypto exchanges, announced that 7,000 Bitcoins were stolen through one single transaction, citing a “large scale security breach.”
