Veeam unveils new backup service for Amazon Web Services

Mubasher: Backup and recovery software provider Veeam launched a new backup service for Amazon’s on-demand cloud computing platforms subsidiary, Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The new service, NEW Veeam Backup for AWS, will facilitate it for customers and cloud services providers to natively protect, manage and recover AWS workloads, the Swiss company said in a press release.

The new product, which will be available exclusively through AWS Marketplace, can integrate with Veeam’s flagship Veeam Backup & Replication, enabling users to manage all of their data, whether in cloud, virtual or physical forms, on the same platform.

“While the cloud holds the promise of significant business benefits, IT decision makers must still take direct action to protect critical data and enable business continuity in the event of an outage, disaster or cyber attack,” Veeam’s executive sales and marketing vice president Ratmir Timashev said.

Furthermore, Veeam launched its industry-first-built-in tool, Cloud Backup Cost Estimator, which provides customers more advanced cost controls and savings by simulating policy charges in order to avoid excessive costs.

“Modern organisations are now hybrid and have adopted public cloud for production applications, backup and disaster recovery among top use cases,” research firm ESG senior analyst Christophe Bertrand said.
