Cairo – Mubasher: The electricity interconnection project between Egypt and Sudan will be operational at a capacity of 50 megawatts (MW) as of 12 January, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported.
The 1,000-kilometre long electricity link project has an investment cost of EGP 509 million, the Egyptian minister of electricity and renewable energy Mohamed Shaker said on Sunday during Al Ahram's third annual energy conference.
In April 2018, Egypt and Sudan signed an agreement to build the Egypt-Sudan electric interconnection project with a capacity of 300 MW in the first phase.
