Dubai - Mubasher: The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has commissioned a 400/132 kV substation in Al Qusais Industrial Area 5 and ten 132/11 kV substations across different areas in Dubai, with a combined value of AED 1.71 billion, during the first half (H1) of 2022.

Including 400kV overhead lines and 132kV underground cables, the substations have a total conversion capacity of 3,500 megavolt-amperes (MVA), according to a press release on Monday.

The Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, noted that the total value of DEWA’s investments in electricity transmission projects amounts to AED 10 billion between 2021 and 2024.

Al Tayer added: "We work in line with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to provide an advanced and integrated infrastructure for electricity and water according to the highest standards of availability, reliability, efficiency, and safety."

The Managing Director and CEO of DEWA further remarked: "Commissioning the new substations is part of DEWA’s efforts to increase the capacity and efficiency of the power transmission network in the area and meet the requirements of customers, developers, and the business sector."
