CBE auctions EGP 40.25bn securities on Monday

Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) has offered debt instruments at a combined value of EGP 40.25 billion in the form of treasury bills (T-bills) and treasury bonds (T-bonds) on Monday, 25 September.

The value of the T-bills stood at EGP 40 billion over two tranches, according to official data.

The first T-bill offering amounted to EGP 22.50 billion and will mature in 91 days on 26 December 2023. Meanwhile, the second auction totalled EGP 17.50 billion, holding a tenor of 273 days until 25 June 2024.

The CBE also issued fixed-coupon T-bonds at a value of EGP 250 million, with the securities carrying a five-year maturity period until 13 October 2027. The T-bonds further has semi-annual coupon at a rate of 14.556%.

At the beginning of this week, the financial authority offered debt instruments at an aggregated value of EGP 46 billion through three auctions.
